Best Multiplayer Non-Cooperative

In my opinion, the best game for 1v1s is by far Super Smash Bros Brawl.
The best for 2v2 would be Starcraft 2.
Anything 3v3 up to 5v5 is GoW2.

Anything higher than that, I don't even touch.

1v1 i gotta agree, Super Smash Bros.
2v2 I partially agree, I would have to go with Starcraft 1 or Demigod
3v3 Age of Mythology or Quake 3
4v4 Counter Strike Source or Dawn of War
5v5 COD:MW2
10v10 COD:Black Ops
16v16I believe is was Frontline:Fuels of War that runs this

I would agree with the two about CoD if it wasn't that it always turns out that in big games of 5v5 and higher that there are always people that camp in corners or go prone in some grass and rack up kills so they can get streak bonuses. Not to mention you die too fast and don't even have a chance to fight back if someone sees you first. Sad

Competetive games are hard to judge as being all around best cause there are always drawbacks.
It's trying to figure out which drawbacks are less disatisfying.

For 1 vs 1, or 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1, or whatever, I'd also say Smash Bros. And while I think Brawl definitely is the best yet in the series, I actually like the playability of Melee better.

2 vs 2 would probably be CoD: Black Ops

Anything above that I would give to GTA IV. I was blown away by the insanity of the multiplayer mode in that game.
